Staff Training
BOSS Survival Instructor Training
Prior to each field season, BOSS staff convene at our Boulder, Utah campus for a 3-day staff training. This training provides staff with an opportunity for updates on changes to the school and a time to refresh on protocols, policies and to engage in emergency training exercises. We often have guest expert instructors to teach specific survival instructor training skills and proficiencies.
Specialist Survival Instructor Training
BOSS staff are given yearly opportunities for deeper training in specific areas. In January 2019, we studied foraging and practiced traditional living skills on the coast of Washington state. In February 2020, we studied traditional living skills with the Seri people in Mexico.
