About Emily Bartle

Emily joyfully celebrates the living and non-living. Traditional Hide Tanning is one of the many crafts she loves to share with community and with her students. Emily tanned her first hide at 18 years old, primarily working with roadkill animals. In her early 20’s, she began her work with wild game processors, salvaging her materials from the waste of the butcher shops. Of the materials she scavenged; Animal skins, scrap meat, bones, hooves, and fat all were used for walkabouts, personal crafts, and teaching classes. She teaches whole animal processing, hide tanning, clothing making, basketry, primitive pottery and natural movement
